41 Degrees, Pools Here We Go

Today we decided to go to the pool, so after feeding the pigs and eating lunch, we headed out. The white truck carried Wes and his wife - the founder's, and Brett and his wife - the new missionaries that are coming next February. In the other white truck that we were riding in, Darren and Leila sat in the truck in the only two seats, and Keiren and I sat in the back of the tiny pickup. After getting used to eating the dust, I finally relaxed and enjoyed the ride. All the Malawians waved and yelled at us. I guess they thought we Canadians were going out of our comfort zone. These Malawians think that we in North America do not work and that we have a ton of money.

Typical Malawi Passengers
The Biobab tree. It is huge. If I had a 20 foot ladder, I would climb it. Lol

King Kong's tree?
So, we kept on driving down this little dirt road that was on the way to the pool. Darren's a pretty fast driver, so you would want make sure your arms are in the truck, so they do not get ripped off by things that are flying past. And that is what I did: I had my arm hanging outside of the truck, when a thorn bush came flying past. Let's just say that I got a bit of cuts on that arm ;)

When we got to the road that had the pool house, Keiran and I decided to do it Malawian style and stand up, holding on by the roof of the Bantam (truck).

!!Go Malawian!!
We arrived at the pool/diner and ordered lunch. I tried some Indian Beef Samosas. It was pretty good. The pool was overlooking the Shire River (She-rae). It's the biggest river in the area.

I took this photo from the same place I took the pool picture. This eagle is on the other side of the lake. It's a pretty clear shot.

I just took a photo of these leaves, because I thought the Shire River would make a pretty cool backdrop.

Peace
Here is a clearer photo of Keiran. He isn't upset or anything; I just managed to get the photo of him out of the water before he jumped in again. Then he'd be gone for a while.

Gone in the Rift

Give me an island and call me Dundee
OX It was that lemon XO
I took a photo of this guy, cuz he looked like some Drug Lord or a guy who could own his own infantry.

All but the puppy print.
So when I finished my lunch we headed down to the pool. I jumped in the water and WOW! It felt good to be in a pool when you have to work or walk around in such heat. Keiran and I chilled in the pool for the next couple hours. I was really satisfied that the pool was around eight and a half feet deep at the end, so I could actually swim without hitting the bottom as much. Lol.

If you got the pink floater, then you own the pool. Naturally...
After swimming for a while, we went for a walk on the shores of Shire River. We didn't see any crocodiles or hippos. We saw lots of lizards though.

Beautiful scenery of water and rocks.
We kept walking where there wasn't a path creating our own.

We had to take this selfie fast. We didn't want to be by the waters, because the crocs like to hide under the water - and this water you can't see into. So we had to take it fast, otherwise there would be a crocodile photobombing the picture.

A pretty good selfie.
We found this net up a dried up creek. We wanted to get out of there fast, too, because we had bare-feet and we were walking through piles of leaves. The snakes sleep and live a lot in piles of leaves.

We climbed up a rock ridge that came to a path about 20 feet above the river. We followed the path to a nice bay. Keiran is at my head. And there is a woman fishing with her child standing aside. On this rock, I am probably 30 or 32 feet about the river. A perfect cliff jump if you are ok with getting eaten by crocs. Lol.

I look like young Dane, with a bite and Fanta in stomach.
This is a photo of the bay. It is really quite beautiful.

We headed back to the village at 5 PM and ate some chicken and rice for dinner. We did nothing really. I started a blog post, but then I joined Darren and Keiran in watching a movie. But then I fell asleep on the couch and was out for an hour before they got tired of my snoring. I headed straight to bed.
