The Sabbath on Tuesday; Day of Rest

Today in the garden, we put up part of a roof on the pig's house. It was about 45 degrees out, so the sun was beating down on us pretty hard. The heat only made balancing on a beam and trying to slam a nail into a 2 by 2 board kind of tough. Darren didn't want me to knee on the boards in between the other boards due to how thin they were, so that made it a little awkward and hard, too.

At 10 AM, I had some free time, so I slept till noon, and then I went over to Pastor Heston's house with Keiran to eat Nsima (the traditional meal here in Malawi) for lunch. As we entered this building, I saw this little boy passed out on the floor. Heston just grabbed his leg and his arm and moved him over to the side of the room. The little child didn't even wake up. Lol

Don't worry; this is normal.
Here is Pastor Heston with the now-awoken child on the other side of the room waiting for the Nsima to be done cooking. I taught Heston and his younger brothers Black-Jack. They found it fun.

Now awake, the little one looked around like, 'What is this? What's with white people being in my house?'

Once the Nsima was done, we all washed our hands and dug in. Literally - with hands. I will admit, it was pretty good. I just didn't really like the lettuce mix. You have to eat fast, otherwise the Nsima will burn your hands.

Nsima is the meal, but it is actually the white thingies. The salad mix, and eggs in sauce.

With all the waiting, I ended up with a huge headache from the heat. Lol. Story of my life! I went back to K's house and slept from 1:30 till 5:30ish. Another story of my life! I was awoken with a knocking on the door and was asked to come for dinner. As we ate, we watched Black List. The television series is ok. I haven't gotten used to it. I told Darren I was in the middle of watching '24' back in Canada. He just laughed and said, 'That's so old.' Lol. Nah...

  1. The eating stye seems rather like Ethiopian meals. I can't believe how white you still are? Must be a different kind of heat cause down in Jamaica we all got brown in days, and you've already been down there two weeks. Love, Mum

  2. That little guy reminds me of Briton the way he sleeps anywhere. Briton was caught once fast asleep on the driveway one day this summer. Remember work hard play hard. Raine
