Nyala Park

Everyone was off of work today, because it was the Malawian Mother's Day! So because everyone was off, Darren let me have a day off, too. Leila decided to take us to a Wildlife Park to see some wildlife. After packing my water, Canon, and some Tylenol, we were on our way there.

The car had really bad AC, and the vehicle was left out in the sun, so it was really steamy inside, making it horrible to be in the car. Plus, we had to be in it for the duration of the whole Nyala Wildlife Park. It wasn't so bad if you had headache pills and water like I did. Lol

Along for the Ride.

As we entered the gate to the Wildlife Reserve we saw these vervet monkeys running around. If you look closely, you can see the tiny baby holding onto his mother's fur tightly, so that they can move as one. Kind of like a kangaroo, but no pouch.

The Vervet Monkey's and its young.
And this is how the mother protects the young - simply by holding the young one tightly.

A Vervet Monkey protecting its young.
The Kudu.

The Water-Buck
The Gnu.

Here are some of some examples of the thorns here in Malawi two inches to over four inches. I finally understand Jesus's head! Wow, imagine these thorns in his head when they gave him the crown of thorns before he was crucified.

This thorn bush is about three feet tall, six feet wide, and over eight feet long.

Would you walk through this for a million dollars. Remember: If you walk through it, your feet and/or legs may not work again due to have huge needles impale  your legs and feet. They are horrible. After you are impaled by one, the after effect feels so incredibly painful. Kind of like the after effect of a bad wasp sting.

Here I show you the size of one against the size of my hand.

After all those other animals, we finally found the giraffes.

A magnificent creature.
I took this photo. It looks amazing!! It just looks so magical and mystical.

We drove on to see some more giraffes, but we couldn't for awhile, because they were probably sleeping or had some fans at another place. Finally, coming around  a corner, this giant was just standing there as if posing.

Hiya!!
Isn't he adorable!?
Do you see the resemblance much if you put these two guys together?

I see Africa.
Now how about this. 'Typical American Family' Giraffe family of two parents and two children.

As Darren was taking photos of all of the giraffes, he headed back to the car and snapped one of me on his way. I am 16 and 5'10'' and I look like a 12 year old. Lol. At least when you guys are 60 looking 60, I'll be 60 looking in my 30s. Lol.

And the Nyala

Here are some more of those Vervet chilling out on a tree.

And the huge watering hole.

As I took the watering hole photo, I looked up and saw the other Hope Village group sightseeing from a viewpoint. They have binoculars in their hands and smiles on their faces. Well, all except Pastor Mary. Lol.

Jackie (left)  I forgot the middle one's name, and Pastor Mary (right)
Here is one of the Hope Village vehicles on the path, and there is one of the many giraffes.

Does this remind you of Jurassic Park?! Lol.
Near the end of the park, we witnessed a few wildebeasts running full force to get away from a zookeeper that was trying to scare them back into their area of the park.

The Bird.
We got back at 3 PM, in time for Leila to go meet some women that were moving into their new brick house. The car had been so hot due to bad AC that I had a headache and now sat around at the Emery's house.

After dinner, Keiran and I decided to go walk around Hope Village for awhile. The children quickly gathered around us, so we each grabbed a child by the hands and swung them around. One after the other they came, wanting me to swing them around. I stopped shortly after getting quite dizzy.

K and I headed back to the house. K to play on his Tablet, and I to blog for you guys reading it. ;)
