A Bit of Everything

Monday:

We had gotten two pigs around two weeks ago, and they are already growing nicely. This one here is the less skittish one and she lets you rub her. My family had pigs one year, and they became extremely easy to pet and touch. My sister, Raine, would come up to them when they were six months old and rub their bellies with a stick. They would roll over on their backs wanting more rubbing. They were also great for the small children to ride.

I called this building a toilet a bit of a while ago. I was wrong. It is actually a pool pipe manager type thingy.

I went over to find Luca at the clinic. On my way to finding him, I got this shot of Heston teaching these women how to take care and manage goat care. A woman will be given a goat, and when it has babies, she will give a female baby goat to her neighbor or friend. They will continue this and soon everyone will have a goat. It was a great idea of Darren's to do this.

Luca and I worked on the "Toilet" room until lunch time, when I decided to go back, have some lunch, check for new comments, and head over to spend the afternoon with Tom at The Village Shop. One of my jobs was putting eggs into a bag for the family support that would be picking them up. I cracked an egg in the bag, and...

Tom slammed the broken egg into his mouth.

Later this evening, the power was out again, so I had to shower with pretty much no water. I had a candle up on the wall above me, and a bucket full of well water in case I didn't have enough water from the shower.

I had to turn on the shower for ten seconds and try to soak my whole body in that time. Then I would turn off the water, lather on soap, put some shampoo into my hair, turn back on the water and rinse off my waist and upper half. I would manage with scrubbing my legs and feet in the dripping water and then quickly rinse off the shampoo. As soon as I finished rinsing off my body, the shower tap ran out of water. I was quite happy that I didn't have to use the well water, as it is very clean, but can have things in it. Well, it's still amazing to have a shower or a bath and water in a third world country.

  1. We really wouldn't want to have to shower like that but at least you'll be having short showers when you get back home--force of habit!! xx G&G

    1. Well if you're in Malawi, you will have to. And no, lol, I wont be taking showers like this when I get home. I don't prefer it. You just have to go through some challenges in life.
