A Safari at Majete Wildlife Reserve

Wednesday:

Today, we went to Majete Wildlife Reserve. It is an animal park that is seven hundred kilometers squared. We got there around eight in the morning, paid the fares, jumped into the safari car, and were on our way.

From here I will tell you all the animals we saw on the safari.

Impala
Nyala
Eagle
The young Impala that became some creature's meal. At the moment, a crow had been picking at him. A crow, though, isn't able to bring down an Impala, so it was probably either a lion, hyena, leopard, or a baboon.

See all these trees broken down in one direction? That is the path of an elephant.

Warthog
The safari truck that we were in was really good at going down steep inclines and then immediately going up steep ones. That would happen when we would drive through, down, into, and then up out of a dried up river.

Elephant dung

The colours of the birds here in Malawi are so amazing. Just look at this one.

Sable Antelope
Guinea Foul
Another pretty Malawian Bird. Check out its huge red eyes.
A lookout over a small watering hole.

The watering hole in this area of the park.

The first elephat we saw this day. He was scratching up on a tree.

The elephants travel in groups, but not with the bulls - as this one is. They do what they want. So this guy is chosing to travel alone.

The lookout

The safari vehicle that we were using.

The Toilet Seat as the Malawians call it due to the design on its butt.
My first photo that I got of a wild baboon.

Baboon
Another Baboon
Camera's are out, sun's out, creature's are out.

'McDonalds' as the Malawians call it due to the designs on its butt.
The hippos
A Warthog group

Male Nyala

 Warthog on the run.

This huge tree is called, 'Boabab Tree.' This one is about seven feet round at the base.

 An oldie on his knees

 The beautiful Shire River's borders

And a Baboon on the run.

Baboon family

Hippos enjoying the cool Shire. I guess they also agree that it is hot out.

The Toilet Seat

The Shire and the tree as a nice back-drop as Darren suggested.

Here we got to go see a line-up of around eight adult elephants. They all started getting a bit jumpy and angry. One tried to run at us, but it hit a tree, so it stopped. They continued to warn us.

This one actually blew his trunk. It was pretty cool.

The mother warning off her young one.

An elephant had been rubbing up on this tree.

A female Impala on the run. Like seriously! What's with all the animals being on the run?

A dried up river bed. They get flooded in the rainy season.

I spy a very white boy with a black box in his hand.

Like mother, like son

We finished our safari at eleven AM and decided to go check out the small museum.

The feet of an elephant. I would actually really like to have one of these since they are so cool.

 A Worthog's skull

An African Buffalo's skull

The front and back foot of a rhino

A list with a few of the animals on here. No Hyena, Hippos, etc.

After leaving Majete, we drove across the road to Ngona to have lunch and go swimming.

Jackie enjoying the sights in the back of the pool
Keiran and I used all the time we were there to be in the pool since it had been in the mid forties and above in temperature for the last week. We swam from eleven-thirty AM until four, having a half hour lunch-break in the middle.

On the way home, I fell asleep on my hand. That's what happens when you swim constantly for four hours. That night, I felt way too exhausted to write a post, so I did all of an editing for one day and then fell asleep.

Thanks for reading!
